First game of the season and you could really tell the lads were up for the challenge. The lads had been on tour for a night at this point and you could probably tell. As the lads in Aalborg got up for breakfast the remainder of the third team were taking to the field against a Bleu-Blanc team that were up for finally beating us after 2 draws the previous season.

This was the point at which Olivier had realised that we looked a bit light-weight in attack. On numerous occasions I had tried to explain the tactics to the lads and Olivier just could not understand why I had opted for no strikers. The lads can already tell it is going to be an uphill battle against a team who matched us last season.

The referee takes to the field and immediately notices the tactical nous of the new third team captain. He begins by asking why I have decided to play with only 9 men. I explained to him that we felt having a full team on the pitch would be unfair on the opposition and as a result we had decided to give them a chance (or words something to that effect).

Kick off:

The game began with the tried and trusted formation of 4 4 and after 2 minutes we decided we had such a grip of the midfield that we should play one up front as well. For the first 15 minutes we looked fairly solid as wave after wave of opposition attacks were thwarted by some fine defending. Then they scored two goals in quick concession to effectively kill of the match after 20 minutes.

The referee realised at this point that we were under the cosh and decided to kick us when we were down. A classic ball through the middle for Stephan was played as Stephan stood 5 yards onside. Referees decision: Offside. A few choice words to the ref later by everyone on the third team and we were back to defending wave after wave of attacks. With 2 minutes left in the half bleu-blanc scored their third goal (At least 5 yards offside. Refs decision: Goal).

Half Time: BUFC 3rd 0 - 3 Bleu-Blanc

The second half followed the same script as the first half and Bleu Blanc ran out fairly comfortable winners.

Full Time: BUFC 3rd 0 - 6 Bleu-Blanc
