3rds kept up their consistent performance of letting in an early goal, making most of the attacks in the match and somehow still losing. Perhaps we should do a pre-kick off haka or something to get us going. Tom had evidently been getting stuck in earlier in the week, as he somehow managed to get a detention on a Saturday afternoon. I think we should write to his teacher and ask him next time just to cane him.

After the first couple of minutes, the BUFC defence was in control and there was some good running down the flanks resulting in crosses and corners. A good effort as we only had 10. The half-time team talk was full of optimism, as Jules was on his way to make us 11.

Unfortunately, BUFC failed to hold out and let in a goal in the first few seconds. The Nivelles winger mishit his cross, which skidded between defenders and keeper, the latter's poor enunciation not helping.

Then everything changed. Jules came on, and the excellent tackling continued with Marc and Chris getting it just right. James put himself up-front, and immediately hit a sweet shot from 20-ish yards that went into right into the roof of the net. No fancy continental swerve from Yorkshireman James, it was gun-barrel straight and beat the keeper for power. BUFC were on top now, but the previously fair ref suddenly started giving a number of dubious offsides against the BUFC attackers who were pushing on. Someone clipped the outside of the post, and then Tony nearly outdid James with a big banana that was bending into the top corner, but was somehow caught by the goalkeeper. Not our day - again.
