Leonard Oddie
Some sad news to report. One of our old players, Leonard Oddie passed away on 14th January. Len was one of our original members and played a leading part in the formation of the club. It's fair to say that without his, and a few like-minded individuals, efforts the club might not exist today. Len was also Chairman of BUFC from 1977 to 1979. Our condolences, and best wishes, go out to his son Danny and to the rest of the family at this difficult time

Star performers this week are the Ladies who win 5-0 against KWeBbels Langdrop without kicking a ball (Forfeit win). Nevertheless, great individual performers from Tish, Ingvill and Pippa who make a good fist of drinking the bar dry. Elsewhere, largely a weekend to forget. Our match-up against St. Georges ends up in 2 draws and 2 defeats. Both the 1sts and the 3rds come from 2 down to rescue 2-2 draws. However, the 2nds lose 0-2 and the 1st Vets go down 0-4. The 2nd Vets lose 0-3 to old rivals, Ramblers.

Bonanza week for the club with 4 teams winning. The 1sts continue their impressive run with a 5-1 victory of Besace. The 2nds do even better winning 5-0 against La Lunette. The 1st Vets also beat Besace 4-1 and the 2nd Vets secure a 2-0 against Watermael. The 3rds draw 1-1 against Sayano. The only blot on an excellent weekend is 0-1 reverse for the Ladies away to FC Sfeerbergen.

As ABSSA declared last Saturday, 'National Sales Shopping Day', the Ladies were the only team in action. Unfortunately, they lost 0-1 to VK Wakkerzeel but I'm reliably informed that it was a pretty good performance. We should all be back in action this week so let's have a clean sweep of victories.

Star performers this week are the 1sts who come from behind to beat high-flying Pharma 2-1.Both matches against Scheut end in draws; 3-3 for the 4ths and a good point for the 2nds as they come from 2 down to draw 2-2.The 3rds also draw; 1-1 against Sayano United. Both Vets teams lose narrowly; the 1st Vets go down 0-1 to 2nd placed Realistics Mexicano and the 2nd Vets 8 match unbeaten run comes to an end, with a 1-2 reverse against Pharma. Football-wise, the girls are in hibernation until the New Year, although socially they remain very much active!
Talking of the social side, the club Xmas party at Six Nations was a great success. Thanks to Amanda for arranging things.

A convincing return to form by the 3rds as they beat Sayano Utd, 5-1. The 2nd Vets continue their recent good form and give Pharma a headache as they win 4-0. Another hat-trick/ penalty save combo in this match; Stuart bags the hat trick and David makes the save. The 1sts grab a good point (1-1) - also against Pharma - as do the 4ths against Scheut. The Ladies play out a second consecutive 0-0 draw, this time against FC Irlande. Defeats for the other 2 sides as the 1st Vets go down narrowly (2-3) aginst 2nd placed Realistes Mexico. The 2nds take a bit of a hammering (1-5) against Scheut.

Overall, a good week for the club: The 2nd Vets just edge out the 1st Vets on the roll of honour this week as they beat AVIA 5-1; a win which stretches their unbeaten run - at least on the pitch - to 7 games. The 1st Vets came from behind to beat Cosmos Molenbeek 5-2, a display which contained the weekend's outstanding individual performance - 4 goals from the 'Silver Fox' aka Gerry C. Also a mention in dispatches for Haris who saved a penalty. Elsewhere, the Ladies gain a good point drawing 0-0 with 2nd placed HSV Tongerlo. The 1sts and 2nds followed suit drawing 2-2 and 1-1 against Choule Auderghem and Cosmos Molenbeek respectively. Only losers this weekend were the 4ths who lost 0-1 to Brussels British. The 3rds had a bye.
To cap a great Saturday for the wrinklies, "De Olde Turds"; (Rob, Peter, Roger and our esteemed Treasurer, "I'm waiting to become a Vet" Tony C.) won the quiz. Congratulations to them and thanks to Alex and Fitzy for their efforts in organising and running the event. Special thanks to Frank for creating the questions and acting as Quiz master.

Another mixed bag results-wise: The 1sts return to form in style with a 6-1 thrashing of Centre FC whilst the 2nds get a good point (0-0) against top-of-the-table Union JP. Needless to say, the 2nd Vets drew (1-1) against Le Tigre; that makes it 6 draws from 9 matches. Elsewhere the news wasn't so good: The 3rds went down 1-4 to Union JP2 and we lost both of our matches against the FC Irlande teams; the 4ths losing 0-2 and the 1st Vets suffering a 0-4 reverse. The Ladies match against FC Irlande has been rearranged for 26th November.

Two and 1/2 pieces of good news this weekend. The 1st Vets won 3-0 and the draw specialists, the 2nd Vets, you guessed it, drew; this time 2-2. That makes it 5 draws from 7 matches for the 2nd Vets. The other bit of good news? Well, the weather was nice!
All our other sides lost: The 1sts went down 0-2; the 2nds winning run came to an abrupt end with a 0-6 defeat. The 3rds, 4ths and Ladies all continued their disappointing runs losing 0-3, 1-5 and 1-2 respectively.
After a promising start to the season for most sides, a lot of our sides have fallen away lately. C'mon guys, let's get the boat afloat again!
Remember that win or lose, you can have a booze at the Coolock after every Saturday match
