About Us

British United is the largest amateur football club in Belgium. The club was formed in
1972. We now run seven teams in all, six men’s and one female’s. The men’s teams play in
Brussels and in the surrounding province of Brabant, as part of the ABSSA league. Two
of the men’s teams are veterans, i.e. for the 38's and over. All play competitively in
matches every Saturday afternoon between September and May. The ladies play in the
KBLVB league. This takes them all over Flanders, playing weekly games on Friday evening,
or Saturday/Sunday afternoon.

All our teams play at our home ground in Mechelen, just off the A19 motorway at the
Nekker Sport complex. To ensure we socialise to the maximum, we try to ensure all
seven teams play their home games on the same Saturdays, and we run our own bar at
the complex.

Our training ground is at the British School of Brussels in Tervuren, where we have the
use of excellent all-weather pitches. Training takes place every Wednesday evening
from 19:00 to 21:00 sun, rain or snow! For 48 weeks of the year. If you're interested,
just come along and join in. New players can join in with the training session free of
charge for a maximum of 3 sessions without any obligation to join the club. However, new
players must not be affiliated with any other club unless they are waiting for release
from that club. After 3 sessions any new players must then complete all the appropriate
paper work necessary to join the club and the league. Once qualification of players takes
effect they are then members of the club and will be obliged to follow the rules of the
club. NN.B: Qualification can take between 1-3 weeks depending on the player's status.
e.g.: If a player has a valid Belgian ID and the right to play football in Belgium, qualification
would take 1 week. Players with a different status could take up to 3 weeks.

We also consider ourselves to be the friendliest ex-pat football club in Brussels, with
members of all nationalities and both sexes!
With over 200 members and over 30 different nationalities, the club has always had a lively
social scene. Annual events include: Captains' Cocktails, Quiz nights, Xmas Dinner, Xmas Kiddies
Party, and an end of season Awards Dinner. Also, out of season the club normally organises
various tours abroad. Teams have represented the Club on tours to Cork (Ireland), Prague,
Barcelona, Warsaw, Dubrovnik, Marbella and Tavira (Portugal) etc.
